Piney River Ranch in Vail, Colorado is located north of I-70, 12 miles from West Vail at the end of a long dirt road, called Red Sandstone Road, about a 45-60 minute trip from where the pavement ends. It sits at 9,350 feet and boasts a lake at the base of the Gore Range, including views of some very stunning 12,000ft & 13,000ft mountains. The venue is beautiful and simple. It features a wood deck on the lake for the ceremonies and an open air large covered pavilions for receptions. I would highly recommend Piney River Ranch to any couple looking for a gorgeous, off the beaten path, outdoor mountain wedding ceremony and reception venue! As a wedding photographer, I especially loved the props, like the boats and the old stagecoach. I also loved how pristine the area was and the beautiful wildflowers and abundant wildlife. The terrain is varying, an aspen forest on the hillside and evergreens opposite it. There is significant tree loss in the evergreen forest due to the notorious pine beetle, thus the logging in the area for dead tree removal, but it still looks amazing!
