Rocky Mountain Estes Park Elopement in Winter

Hoping this is our last snow storm for the season; although I can’t complain, I do love snow!!

Spring is my favorite season, for the skiing of course.  Love that powder!  You may not be aware, but March is actually the snowiest month of the year, followed by April.  So, if you want to have a snowy wedding you should plan for no later in the year than Mother’s Day.  Where I live in Woodland Park, Colorado we get our last big dump of the year on Mother’s Day weekend, almost like clockwork.

Here is looking back to one of my favorite snowy ‘spring time’ wedding pictures I made by in Rocky Mountain National Park last month, although it may look like a winter portrait at first, just notice how warm this couple looks, she didn’t even need her cape for these photographs.  Gotta love spring time in the rockies!

Rocky Mountain Winter Wedding

Conveniently located only an hour and a half from Denver, Estes Park Colorado is a great locations for a destination weddings.  Located on the edge of town is Rocky Mountain National Park, a great location for intimate and adventurous weddings year round.   It’s numerous lakes make for great elopement locations.  I have been visiting the park since I was a kid.  Besides the countless hours I have spent exploring the park, my friend Angela Hays also used to be a back-country ranger there, so I have all the insider’s tips!

Here is one of my favorite snowy elopement pictures I made by Bear Lake this winter….

Keystone Resort Wedding Photography and Videography

I had so much fun at Dana and Jason’s wedding making photos and videos all day for them at Keystone Resort yesterday.  Winter mountain weddings are my all time favorite.  I love working outside no matter how cold it is, even if it is negative six degrees for your ceremony, like it was for their 5pm Timber Ridge Lodge deck ceremony.  Here is a sneak peak from Thursday’s bride and groom wedding portraits at Keystone Resort

Outdoor Family Snow Day Pictures

I try to live a life spent mostly outdoors and I almost always work outdoors, no matter the weather.  Like I say, there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.  As long as it’s not windy beautiful photos can be made in the winter in short increments.

In the mountains, winters can be long and children’s photography can’t always be done outdoors.  Fortunately, it’s no secret that winter is my favorite season, so I love it when I get a call on a snow day for snow pictures.  There is something so beautiful about a fresh layer of snow!

Children don’t always love the cold, but my style of photography leans heavily on candid play photos, which how I got these two finally together and smiling.
