Every once in a while I like to share something personal on my blog and I know all of you outdoorsy couples love seeing my epic mountain photos, so here is a little about what I do on the weekends when I’m not booked for a wedding…

Climbing fourteeners has always been a passion of mine and it is one of my all time favorite summer activities!  My first ascent was with my father during high school, Mt Democrat, a pretty easy hike out of Alma, Colorado. What was your first 14er climb?

My toughest climb was Crestone Needle, near Westcliffe, Colorado – that one is for the true adrenaline junkies, ropes are recommended and the summit, yikes, there isn’t much room up there!  My all time favorite fourteener was definitely Mt. Elbert, located near Leadville, Colorado.  A very long, but very rewarding and gorgeous hike!  I highly recommend it!

I just love this view of the Sawatch Range; Simply Stunning!!  Here is a picture of my group at 14,440ft on the tallest peak in Colorado.  By the way, in case you were wondering – Mt. Elbert is the second-highest summit in the contiguous United States, less than 100ft shorter than Mount Whitney in California.

The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” John Muir
